We are still short drivers for our field trip to the Wildlife Park on Friday. We still need drivers for 6 more children. We went to the computer lab to work on our Mathletics accounts today. Today was International Day of Peace and we gathered with the other Montessori classes in the school today for a Moment of Silence and peaceful thoughts. The children also practiced logging in to World Book on the computer and signed into their new Mathletics accounts. Homework tonight: - home reading - mathletics (tasks assigned - please complete) - Gr. 6 - p. 26 #1-10 - Monday there is no school - Wild Life park - we need drivers or we will not be able to go, right now I only have one parent signed up to drive. The grade sixes taking band had their first lesson with their instruments this morning. We also looked at how names in French and English are pronounced and spelled different ways. Monday Sept. 17

There were calls today for children in grades 5-7 interested in playing volleyball. If you missed these meetings and are interested please let the office know. We watched a Bill Nye DVD today that talked about different kinds of waves. Your child should be able to tell you the definitions of wavelength, frequency and amplitude. We created a very fun class drawing today. Each one of the children took a square of a bigger picture and together created a large one. We also had our first buddy class of the year. It was a lot of fun meeting our new little buddies! Another wonderful day today! The year sixes had a meeting regarding band. This will start next week. Please discuss this meeting with your child if they are in grade six. Tomorrow is gym. The students are required to have a change of gym strip for gym. This should be a t-shirt and shorts (sweat or yoga pants are fine) as well as running shoes. We have had a wonderful Monday to start off the school year. Our class has slightly changed this year. It is a bit smaller with 20 students this year. The children received their agendas at the end of the day so they might not have had time to write this weeks spelling words in, they will be there tomorrow. One week done already! The class lists should be posted Monday morning. If your child is not going to be in this class please make sure you check the list to find out who their teacher will be. We had another great day today! We started French today and created a classroom and then labeled in French. We also created some 3D hand art. It looks like we might be in this class for one more day with children moving to their new assigned classes on Monday. Please check outside for posted lists when this change happens. Welcome Back!

Wow! The first full day of school for the 2012-2013 year! We had a great day today. The children are settling back in nicely. We did some school safety and playground review today. We had fun. They really liked the super dot to dot activity today. We weeded the garden in the morning, and did some math review too. Have a wonderful night!
