Monday

Today the children complied a list of words that they felt were some of the common misspelled words and we used this brainstormed list to create this weeks spelling list.  We also discussed simile and metaphor in writing today and how using these can create more interesting writing. We also talked about Pi today since it is Pi Day.   Homework tonight:

  - home reading
 - Scholastic due tomorrow
 - French for grades 5/6
 - Pi graph if not complete
 - metaphor and simile sheet if not complete
 - Thursday is wear green day

Have a good night.

Thursday

Today we talked about alliteration and we read Margaret Atwood's Princess Prunella and the Purple Peanut.  It tied in nicely with the quote that we looked at in writing this morning, "Please take responsibility for the energy you bring into this space."  I have extended a challenge to the students to complete 16 random acts of kindness before spring break.  These tasks are to be completed at school, ask them about which ones they were able to complete today.  Homework:

 - home reading
 - study spelling
 - alliteration tongue twister if not complete
 - French lesson 8 if not complete
 - spelling sentences if not complete

I am looking for some old magazines if anyone has any at home that they can donate to the classroom.  They will be cut up and so will not be able to be returned.  Thank you in advance for any donations.  Have a good night!

Each one of the children has an individual spelling list this week.  They have gone through the last 20 units and have created a list using words that they need extra work with, or they have added some challenging words for themselves.  We had a much better listening day in the gym today.  Homework tonight:

 - home reading
 - study spelling
 - unfinished spelling sentences
  - math  4 p. 166 #1-16 (quiz Wednesday), 5p. 78 #1-12, 6p. 192 #1-11

Have a good night!
