We watched some videos today to prepare for our McQueen Lake Trip next week.  We worked outside with a compass and are ready to use one next week when we head to McQueen Lake.  Today those children who had donated books for the book swap will be bringing their new books home.  Homework tonight:

Wednesday

We worked on our Explorers projects today.  In gym the children played 4 on 4 in basketball.  In Write Traits today we discussed Voice in writing.  Homework tonight:

Tuesday

Today in gym the children had 3 on 3 basketball.  We worked with procedural writing to create instructions on how to build a snowman.  We finished working with the last Explorer station and will now start taking our notes to create a good copy.  Homework tonight:

A reminder that we are away on February 3rd which is a hot lunch day.  If you are able to go and edit your child's lunch order before we go you might want to as it is a Senor Froggy Day and it may not keep well in the fridge.  Literacy week is next week and Monday is dress as a book character.  Homework this weekend:

Thursday

A reminder that McQueen Lake forms are due tomorrow.  The children wrote their muscle quiz today and all did well.  The year 6's had a Saint John's Ambulance presentation.  They also worked more on their Typing Pal accounts this morning.

Wednesday

Today the children worked on their basketball skills in gym playing two on two.  We worked on conclusions in our Write Traits today.  The children used some time for a work block today as well.  They are all bringing home recording sheets for the principal's challenge next week and information on unplug and play.  Homework tonight:

Monday January 20th

Today we continued to work on our Explorer project.  We have a new word study package this week.  A reminder that Scholastic orders and McQueen Lake forms are due by Friday.

Principal's Challenge - read as much as you can (an adult needs to sign off on the time) to try and win a pizza lunch with Mrs. Zryd.

DEAR - we will drop what we are doing to read (this includes parents and staff).  Be sure to bring a book with you if you are going to be at the school next week!

Unplug and Play - tracking booklets will be sent home and will be due back by February 6th.

Reading Bingo - with the library

Monday (27th) - Dress as your favourite book character

Tuesday - Bust a gut day - bring a joke!

Today the children worked very hard making hampers at the Food Bank.  I was VERY proud of how hard they worked today.  Homework this weekend:

Notices Sent Home

Sorry!  After not using the blog in a couple of weeks and in answering all the students questions about the McQueen forms yesterday afternoon I forgot to enter a post on the blog!  Yesterday your child should have brought home a package of forms regarding our McQueen Lake field trip on February 3-5th.  They should also have brought home a form for you to fill out and return if you would like to join us as a parent chaperone on this trip.  The last form they brought home was regarding the book swap taking place in our school library.  Please make sure that you child has given you all of these forms.

Yay! We got our new projector today and can start updating the blog again!  Today in gym the children did basketball.  We worked on our Explorer projects.  We also had a Write Traits lesson.  Homework tonight:

I hope that everyone had a wonderful and restful holiday.  In the classroom we have been reviewing the school matrix and the expected behaviours.  We have also started our next body system, the Muscle System.  Homework:
