As each of the years has a science quiz this Friday I have told the children that this week their home reading can be reading their science books to study. Homework tonight:

- home reading
- study spelling
- study science
- cookie sheets (we will be doing some baking on Friday and if you have any cookie sheets you could donate to the classroom they would be appreciated!)

Home Access

A few children have been asking about getting a home access form to link their school accounts to their home computer. I have given some out but will post the information here as well in case they have gotten lost or need to be done again.

Install Free NX
1.This program works on Windows, Linux and some Mac's.
2.Open a web browser and go to http://www.sd73.bc.ca/download/
3.Download NX Client
4.Open the file that you just downloaded.
5.Click “Next”, “Next”, “Next”, “Install” and “Finish”. (you do not need to change anything)

Free NX is now installed.
Setup School Connection
1.Click “Start” => “All Programs” => “NX Client for Windows” => “NX Connection Wizard”
2.Click Next >
3.Type in the Session box: Aberdeen
4.Type in the Host box: vs1.aberdeen.sd73.bc.ca
5.Type in the Port box: 55557
6.Adjust the slide bar to match your home Internet connection. ADSL=Shaw; MODEM=dial-up
7.Click Next >
8.Click Next >
9.Check “Create shortcut on desktop”.
10.Click Finish.

You will now see a quick connect icon on your desktop.
Login to Aberdeen
1.Open the Aberdeen link on your desktop.
2.Type in your Login and Password that you use at the school.
3.Click Login

*** When you are finished your work, please remember to logout by clicking “K” => “Log Out...”
*** You may have to reboot your workstation after you install NX Client.

· Weather/Seasons
· Climate
· Time Zones (hours before or after us)
· Bodies of Water
· Mountains
· Pictures (including a map that I will provide to be coloured in Montessori map colours)
· You will need to complete a Montessori puzzle map as well

You need to include all of the information listed above, if you would like to include any other information that would be wonderful. The presentation will be no longer than ten minutes long. I will also expect a written report to be handed in as well. If you have any further questions please let me know as soon as possible.

What a sticky way to end the week! I think the children all enjoyed watching myself and 8 other staff members take a pie to the face today because of the Terry Fox fundraiser. Homework today:

We had another good day today. The children all worked really hard and got a lot done. One thing that we worked on was Postcards for Peace. Each one of the children wrote a postcard thanking a veteran for their service for our country. We will be sending those off to Legions across Canada tomorrow. Homework tonight:

- math test tomorrow (review of addition and number patterns)
- spelling dictionary words
- unfinished work
- scholastic orders due
- Eagle Bay deposit due by Nov. 15

Wednesday

It was a fun day today. Being away yesterday no note went home to remind everyone that today was the class pizza party that we won for selling the most Entertainment Books in the school. Thank you to the PAC for providing pizza, juice and cupcakes! Yummy! Also we had a fun French lesson in the lab today learning about some websites that are available. Homework tonight:

- study spelling
- research projects (due next week)
- 15 min. of French games
- Christmas Carol field trip notice

What a good day today was! We had a good time at our first YPC of the year. We also are going to try out some new seating arrangements that hopefully will help the focus and volume level in the room. Homework tonight:

- scholastic due Friday
- any outstanding assignments are now past due (students who do not have them handed in will have to stay in at lunch time until they are completed)
