Wednesday

Wow the last two days have been so busy! The Heritage Fair yesterday was amazing. Thank you to all the parents who were able to come. The children loved being able to show off all of their hard work. Today we had a lesson with Mrs. Tomm on communication. We talked about how things like proximity and tone can affect our communication. This afternoon the grade sevens put on a wonderful band concert for the school. The Fun Fair is coming up on May 7th. All classes will be creating a basket to raffle off. Our theme this year is "Movies and Munchies." If you are able to donate something to this basket it would be greatly appreciated. Homework tonight: - home reading - map if not complete - items for basket - math 4p. 179 #1-5, 5p. 178 #1-11, 6 quiz on fraction and ratio tomorrow Have a good night!

Friday

We had a wonderful time at 4 Cats Art Studio today! The children have created some AMAZING paintings. They are at the studio to dry and they will contact me when they are ready to be picked up. I am emailing pictures out to show you what they have done (if you don't receive an email it is because your child has asked that it remain a surprise). Tuesday will be our school Heritage Fair. All project must be brought into the school on Tuesday morning. If you would like to come and view your child's project they will be available for viewing on Tuesday from 1:15 - 2:15. Thursday

Congratulations to the grade 3/4 and grade 5 Battle of the Books teams who took part in the zone competition today. The 3/4 team placed third and the grade 5 team placed first! Tomorrow we are heading to 4 Cats for our Emily Carr field trip. Please make sure that your child is in clothes appropriate for art, we will be using paint. Homework tonight: - home reading - novel study circle 3 - heritage fair projects can be brought into the school once completed. Due Tuesday. Wednesday

Today we started an independent novel study. Each child has picked a novel that they will be reading for this assignment. They are able to use these novels as their home reading books for the next few weeks as they have all shown them to me to make sure that they are at a level they should be okay with. For any reason if your child is struggling with the novel please let me know as soon as possible. Homework tonight: - home reading - novel study circle #3 - bring in heritage fair project if completed - 2 notices - gym tomorrow Have a good night!

Tuesday

We had a lot of fun this afternoon taking part in a track and field clinic. A couple of members of the track and field club came to the school to work with the children on shot put and high jump skills. They all seemed to have a good time. Homework tonight: - home reading - heritage fair (projects should be complete at this time and the children should be working on how they will present it next Tuesday) - math 5p. 172 #1-12, 6p. 192 #1-11 Have a good night.

Monday

We had a work block day in the classroom today. The children got work done but were a little chatty. Once they have completed their heritage fair projects they can bring them into the classroom and leave them here for safe keeping for the school fair on Tuesday. Friday

Today as a school we ran the Terry Fox Run. Terry Fox started his run April 12 so we ran today. As a school we were able to raise over $970! The children did a lot of work on their Heritage Fair projects today. There will be more class time available on Monday for those who need it.
