Today we started coding online using the site coding.org.  The children are working through individual lessons.  If they would like to continue working on coding at home I encourage them to go to the hour of code and work on those activities and save the lessons to work on at school so I am able to view their progress.  Homework this weekend:

 - home reading
 - novel study if not complete
 - permission slip

Tuesday

The children in year 4 worked on Numeracy practice today for FSA practice.  These practice tests can be accessed from our school website.  Today we used algorithms to create paper airplanes.  We learned that lots of things in life require following algorithms.  Also that we can have a different algorithm and still get to the same result.  On Friday the children will be starting to work on computers and will need their headphones to complete this.  Homework tonight:

 - home reading
 - study spelling
 - French comic if not complete
 - Math 5p. 94 #1-14, 6p. 101 #1-8
  - ask your parents about art cards

Monday

Today the year 4 students learned how to log on to the FSA practice tests online.  They can use the same format they learned today to log on and practice at home if they would like.  Homework tonight:

Today in art we talked about perspective and how this can change the view of the same image.  Homework tonight:

Today we started the first lesson in our unit on coding.  We completed some graph paper programming guiding our partner's Automatic Realization Machine (ARM).  Ask your child to explain to you how this worked.  Homework tonight:

 - novel study marking tomorrow for Island and Holes groups
 - skating permission slips if not returned

Wednesday

The children worked so quietly today!  They all got a lot accomplished today and were very proud of themselves at the end of the day.  A reminder that tomorrow is our library day and all books are due to either return or renew.  Also they will need to have gym strip for tomorrow.  Homework tonight:

Welcome back!  Today went so quickly!!!  I know that there were many tired faces in the room today so make sure that everyone gets a good sleep tonight!  Some children forgot their gym strip at home today so please make sure that they have it for Thursday.  Homework tonight:
