Tuesday

Today we talked about Theme in writing.  I read the children a variety of stories and they were able to tell the themes to me.  Homework tonight:

 - study spelling
 - find a rock for Thursday
 - math package if not complete
 - PAC meeting tonight at 7pm
 - gym tomorrow
 - Scholastic book order due next week

Monday

Today we had a chat in the classroom about gossip.  Please have a conversation with your child about how this can be hurtful to others.  We are also celebrating the International Day of Peace on Thursday and will be discussing Peace in the classroom throughout the week.

 - find a rock for Thursday (no bigger than your palm)
 - gym tomorrow
 - PAC meeting tomorrow at 7pm

Friday

Today the remainder of the children shared their Ability Bags with the class.  This has been a wonderful way for them to get to know each other.  I loved the symbols that many of them chose to represent their abilities.  We met our little buddies today and they were so kind to them!  We also had our first fire drill today!  Busy day!  Homework this weekend is only home reading and making sure all verification/media forms are returned to the school.  Have a great weekend!

Thursday

Today we all went down to the gym to watch a presentation on magic and motivation.  Please ask your child to tell you about the performance.  We also got outside in the afternoon to review the school boundary lines in preparation for our first buddy day tomorrow.  Homework tonight:

 - media forms
 - school fees if not paid ($65)
 - email in agenda if not there already

Wednesday

Today at lunch some of the children were not making the right choices with their food.  Please remind your child that at lunch they should be sitting and eating and not playing games with their food.  Tomorrow the children will be starting the day with PE.  Homework tonight:

Tuesday

We had another great day in the classroom today.  The children are all starting to remember the expected behaviours in the classroom.  Tomorrow they will have gym for the first time and need to remember to bring a change of gym strip and running shoes.  Homework tonight:

Welcome Back!

Welcome back!  I hope that everyone had a wonderful summer.  I am so excited for the school year!  I will try to keep the blog updated daily this year.  Today we talked for a while about words.  We read the book, My Mouth is a Volcano! and did an activity with toothpaste.  We talked about how words can easily come out of your mouth (like toothpaste out of the tube) but like toothpaste, they are really hard to put back in.  A classroom newsletter should be coming home today.  Thank you to those who have sent in their school supply fees and to those who haven't please do so as soon as possible.  We are not using workbooks this year so you don't need to pay the $5 cost for that.  We have not received our agenda's yet, however once those come home if you could please write down your email.
