Friday

Today we worked on our Heritage Fair stamps in class. The children have to complete an image and a paragraph on something that relates to Canada. We will be starting some in class work and research on our projects next week. I have asked that all children take a look at the Kamloops Heritage Fair website with their parents and try to choose a topic this week. The Kamloops site is http://kamloopsheritagefair.sd73.bc.ca. And as I stated on yesterdays post as well, project ideas can be found at http://canadashistory.ca/Kids/Heritage/Project-Tips.aspx?id=10. I have asked the children to start keeping a journal of their progress into this project and have asked them to do three journal entries a week. Thursday

We had a busy day in the room today! We talked about the Heritage Fair which is a large project that the intermediate Montessori classes will be doing. These are to be individually completed. Please take a look at the timeline with your child and help guide them to a topic that will interest them. We will be using class time for this project every week however it will require some home time to complete as well. We have a link to helpful websites through our school homepage. Project ideas can also be found at www.canadashistory.ca. We also had a good class meeting this afternoon. We have been having some problems in the line up and playing games on the playground lately. As a class this afternoon we talked and brainstormed solutions to these problems. Wednesday

We had a good work block today. The children are starting to spend more time focusing on their work and less time chatting with friends. It was great to see the sea of pink shirts in the classroom today. Thank you for supporting pink shirt day. Tuesday

We had a lot of fun in our clan groups this morning. We talked about how good ideas snowball and talked about ways we could show respect and responsibility safely on the playgound in the winter. We also created our own personal food guides on the computer today. Monday

We had a wonderfully busy day today. In the morning we had a great work block and some of the grade 6 students gave grammar box lessons to the younger students. In the afternoon we talked about healthy food practices and why cutting raw chicken with other foods on a cutting board is not a safe practice. Ask your child to explain to you how we did this. Thursday

Today we presented our composer lockers to our classroom. We also started our health unit talking about nutrition and safe food practices. Wednesday

We had an amazing day in the classroom today! The children were so focused on their work today! A reminder for those who have overdue library books to return them tomorrow or bring them in tomorrow to renew.
