Thursday

Today we talked about the difference between common and proper nouns.  We also had our library book exchange today and had our new school photos taken. Tomorrow is our school Terry Fox Run.  The run will take place at 11am for any parents who would like to come and join us.

 - noun sentences if not complete

Painting tomorrow (so perhaps don't wear your best clothes.  Will be using water colours).

Wednesday

Today we reviewed nouns and articles in grammar.  The children had to create sentences and parse them to show these parts of speech.  We also got the garden ready for winter.  A reminder that tomorrow is photo day.  I don't know exactly what time we will be called down for photos.

Tuesday

Today we started learning about cells in science.  Tomorrow we will be doing some work in the school garden.  Please make sure that your child is not wearing their best clothes as they are likely to get dirty.  Also if they have a pair of gardening gloves at home and wanted to bring them they will help in weeding.

Monday

I have placed a sign up sheet for parent/teacher interviews on the back of the classroom door.  The interviews for our class are scheduled on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.  This is not a typo.  I have to have a dental procedure done on Thursday and will be away on Thursday and Friday for it.  Due to this I am holding interviews on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The students will still have  a half day on the Thursday there will just be no interviews.  If these times on Tuesday and Wednesday do not work for you please contact me and we can make other arrangements.  If you feel that you have more to say than the 10 minute time allotment please book a second time slot. Or if you have more than one child please book one spot for each child.

Today we had our first library book sign out and the children are bringing home their home reading lists for the year.  Homework this weekend:

Wednesday

It was wonderful to see some of the parents out last night at the Open House at the school.  We had a wonderful day in the classroom today.  Today is the International Day of Peace and the children all took part in a Peace ceremony outside.  We also met our little buddies for the first time today!  Homework tonight:

 - spelling sheet if not complete
 - study spelling (dictation tomorrow as no school for students on Friday)
 - math if not complete 4p. 16 #1-4, 5p. 15 #1-8, 6p.17 #1
 - gym strip
 - $2 for Terry Fox Run

Tuesday

Today we worked on creating flags to help to celebrate International Day of Peace tomorrow.  We also reviewed the first of the Five Great Lessons and read the story Born With A Bang.  Homework tonight:
