It's hard to believe that it is March already!  Today we started learning about the Respiratory System.  We have new word study packages this week (group one does not have bonus words this week).  The children also start gymnastics tomorrow. Please make sure that if your child has long hair that it is pulled back.  Homework tonight:

Friday

Today we had our final hip hop lesson at the Academy of Dance.  Please ask your child to demonstrate their learning to you.  We did a sunshine activity in the afternoon where we gave compliments to others in the room.  We started writing a story from the point of view of food about the journey through the Digestive System.  Homework this weekend:

 - Heritage Stamp if not complete
 - Digestive quiz next Friday

Thursday

Today we worked on our Typing Pal.  In math today the year 4's were working on fact families, the 5's were working on long division and the 6's are working with creating angles using a protractor.  In Health we learned about being nice with Kids in the Know.  A reminder that we have our last dance lesson at the Academy of Dance tomorrow morning.  Please make sure you are dressed in clothing that you can move in with hair pulled back.  Homework tonight:

Wednesday

Today was Pink Shirt Day and it was great to see all of the children wearing pink today!  In gym we played Pickleball.  Gymnastics starts next week, if your child has longer hair please make sure that it is pulled back for gymnastics.  We had Clans in the school today where we talked about differences.  We did a puzzle piece activity as a class today and each child created their own puzzle piece about kindness.  Homework tonight:

 - word study (due tomorrow)
 - puzzle piece if not complete
 - Heritage Fair stamp due Friday
 - some students still need to return their signed interim

Tuesday February 25

Today we had library, please remember to return books from home.  We continued working on Pickleball in gym.  Tomorrow is pink shirt day.  Bake sale on Friday, all items are $1 or $2.  Homework tonight:

Monday Feb. 18

Today we were introduced to our Heritage Stamp Project.  Please be brainstorming for a Canadian idea for this.  We played dodgeball in gym.  The grade 6's created protractors out of paper for their math lesson today.  Homework tonight:

Friday

Well today was an exciting Valentine's Day!  We had the first of our two hip hop classes today and the kids did great!  It was a lot of fun!  We also worked on our paintings that we started earlier in the week.  Then this afternoon we had a surprise visit from Uncle Chris the Clown.  A great way to end a fun filled day.  A reminder that Monday is Family Day and there is no school.  On Tuesday don't forget that we have gym and library.  Have a wonderful Family Day weekend!
