Happy Friday!

It was both a great, yet sad day today. We had a fantastic day celebrating the final day of one of the students in our class. We wish him nothing but the best as his family moves back to Saskatchewan. We had so much fun making our own pizza's today. Rolling out the dough was a lot of fun and as one student student said "it feels like memory foam!" I was very impressed that all of the children tried something new on their pizza's today, many vegetables were eaten. I was very proud! Not much homework for the weekend - home reading and we are going to have a couple of hours of work time on Monday to work on our Egg Drop projects so they need to bring materials in to work on that. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Friday

Well the FSA's are done! Only those children who have missed one will have to write them next week. It was a bit of a crazy afternoon today, I had to leave suddenly due to a complication with my father at the hospital. I know that my quick departure worried some of the children, but I just want to let everyone know that he is doing okay now. Sorry if I scared you guys!!! But I hear that you were really good for Mr. Lloyd.

The only homework that I would like them to do this weekend is their home reading. Have a great weekend everyone and I will see you on Monday morning!

Year 4 FSA note

I have been reviewing a lot of math topics in a very short time period over the last couple of weeks. We will be covering these topics in MUCH greater detail later in the year. I just wanted the students to be comfortable and remember the math language that could be used on their FSA's next week. For instance today I mentioned perimeter and got six blank stares until I reminded them that this is measuring the outside of something and instantly they were all telling me that they knew how to do this, they just forgot what it was called. These assignments should not be causing any stress or concern, if they are please let me know right away. Thank you!!!

Thursday Homework

We had a lot of fun in gym today. We got together with another class and played a great game of dodge ball.

Monday Jan. 11

What a great start to the week. The children all worked really hard today. They were given a new independent science assignment today that they have until Feb. 12 to complete. Most of this work will be completed in class, although the final project will have to be worked on at home too. I think it is going to be a fun one, have your child tell you about it!

This week they all have the same spelling list to get them used to using the vocabulary that they will see with their science projects over the coming weeks. The words are: crank, effort, pulley, force, friction, fulcrum, gear, gravity, inertia, incline, kinetic, lever, linear, load, oscillating, potential, screw, wedge, axle, reciprocating.

Homework tonight:
  • Home reading
  • Study spelling
  • Yr. 4 Math worksheets
  • Extra clothes for tomorrow - they are going sledding for gym and are bound to get wet in these conditions!
  • Comment on the blog! At some point this week I would like all children to leave a comment so that I know people are checking in!
Have a great night!

Happy Friday!

What a wonderful way to end the week. The students were so focused on their work today, they were very surprised at how much they could get done when they were not chatting with a friend! Not too much homework for the weekend. Home reading for all and a small math package for the year fours (due Monday).

We had a fantastic time sledding and playing in the snow this afternoon. A perfect way to end the week. Have a great weekend!
