Friday
Today we worked on our Heritage Fair stamps in class. The children have to complete an image and a paragraph on something that relates to Canada. We will be starting some in class work and research on our projects next week. I have asked that all children take a look at the Kamloops Heritage Fair website with their parents and try to choose a topic this week. The Kamloops site is http://kamloopsheritagefair.sd73.bc.ca. And as I stated on yesterdays post as well, project ideas can be found at http://canadashistory.ca/Kids/Heritage/Project-Tips.aspx?id=10. I have asked the children to start keeping a journal of their progress into this project and have asked them to do three journal entries a week. Homework this weekend:
- home reading
- heritage fair
- stamp idea if not done already
Have a great weekend.

Thursday
We had a busy day in the room today! We talked about the Heritage Fair which is a large project that the intermediate Montessori classes will be doing. These are to be individually completed. Please take a look at the timeline with your child and help guide them to a topic that will interest them. We will be using class time for this project every week however it will require some home time to complete as well. We have a link to helpful websites through our school homepage. Project ideas can also be found at www.canadashistory.ca. We also had a good class meeting this afternoon. We have been having some problems in the line up and playing games on the playground lately. What a beautiful day today was. After being out on supervision at recess today I noticed (as did a few others in the room) that there was a lot of garbage on our school yard after the snow had melted. We decided to head outside this afternoon and do a quick school yard clean up. We picked up a lot of garbage in a fairly short time. Thank you to the students in the class for helping to keep our school yard looking clean. Homework tonight:

Friday
The children all did a wonderful job presenting in class today. They all spoke clearly and confidently. We went down to our buddy class this afternoon. We were invited down to celebrate Valentine's Day. The children in our class were wonderful and patient with the younger ones making sure that they achieved success in all of the games that they took part in. I was very proud of their behaviour with our little buddies today. Today, due to many problems that have been happening lately, we have had to ask the children to take a one week break from playing football at school. The play has been much too rough lately, whether intentional or not, so we have asked that for next week no footballs come to the school. A reminder that next week is a shortened one. Wednesday is a half day (dismissal at 12:30) for interviews and Friday is a ProD day. Homework this weekend:
- home reading
- ss projects if not complete
- science quiz Monday
Have a great weekend!

Thursday
We had a lot of fun this morning in a Play is the Way presentation. The children learned how to play games that required them to work together and encourage each other. Tomorrow they will present their social studies projects to each other. Due to technical difficulties I told them that they will have time tomorrow morning to print their projects (if required in grade 5 and 6). Due to this and the invitation of helping our little buddies with some Valentine's crafts tomorrow afternoon I am going to postpone the science quiz on chapter 9 (salmon, forests, water and renewable energy resources) until Monday. This is just a quick quiz to make sure they have been listening to the readings and following the concepts. Homework tonight:

Well it sure was a quiet day in the classroom today with some of the 5/6 students gone! We got a lot of great work done today. We had some fun as well with some of the other grade 4 students that were in split classes. We got to practice our basketball skills with Mrs. Doherty's students today and the three classes got together at the end of the day to watch part of James and the Giant Peach. Our grade 4's have it as a home reading book this year and there are some big differences between the book and the movie so we are going to compare and contrast the two and discuss why they feel that the film makers decided to make changes.
